A buddy of mine who worked on the partyboats used to catch pretty good sized stingrays in there back in the '80s. I think he caught small bottom sharks (dogfish, leopard sharks) in there as well, but no sign of anything which would attack anything larger than a mackerel. Certainly no blues, makos, hammerheads, or great whites. But think about this -- millions and millions of people swim in the open ocean from Malibu down to Torrance each year, and I can only recall a couple of shark attacks in the ocean there in 20+ years. I'd worry more about jellyfish, riptide, stepping on a broken bottle, or getting bonked by a surfboard or drunken boater than I'd worry about sharks. Inside the Marina, I'd think sharks are even less of a worry. (But the drunken boaters may be more of a problem.)

There is not such thing as affordable housing in Marina Del Ray California. That is a very expensive area.

Your mom's rule about south bay, is about keeping you close to home. Marina Del Ray is not close to you. And you know that if she wants to keep you close to home there is no way she is letting you on a boat with your boyfriend; considering it has a bedroom. If it is with his parents you should see if you can invite your mom, otherwise all you can do is be honest with her and accept the consequences. Earn her trust now and you will have it for life later.

The Marina is nice, but you must contend with incoming and outgoing air traffic. Better go to Brentwood(technically L.A.). Larchmont Village is also extremely nice. I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!!

ALEJO PRESTO'S TRATTORIA!!!! This place is the BEST! Holy crap everytime I'm in L.A. I always go there. It is in Marina Del Rey, but theres always a long wait...on July 4, you'd probably have to wait at least 90+ minutes and it's hard to find parking. However, they have great italian food and they start every meal with bread. YUM I'm getting hungry thinking about it right now lol. Anyway, this isn't your typical restaurant. It sorta has an open air atmosphere. Nevertheless, the food is top quality and you won't be unsatisfied.
