Drive out any of the dirt roads leading out of town, find a good wind protected spot and set up camp. Try out alimony road just south and east of 106th from tejon rd it cuts through some hills and takes you into the national forest up behind little rock reservoir. don't use an open fire it will draw attention to you. use a portable tabletop gas BBQ.

Is Palmdale, CA a good place to live and raise a family?

Palmdale is much better than lancaster, but it depends. YOu should check out the neighborhoods there. Like drive through at night to see what's going on. The West side is always better than the East side. Commuting to Northridge might be tough. Depends what time you start work. That 14, where it meets with the 5 can turn into a parking lot in the morning when people are heading to work. As well as in the evening. I hate being stuck in traffic, so that would be an issue with me. BUt, some people don't mind. Especially if you can have a nice home to go to. Home prices have gone done a lot so this would be the time to buy. Good Luck.

There is not a lot to do in Palmdale, unless you love the desert and outdoor recreational activities. On Thursday Nights during the summer on the Square there is an outside market. Live entertainment, various arts and crafts, refreshments, and children's activities. It will take you about 1 hour and forty five minutes.. Depending on what time of the day you go I would give myself plenty of time.. I would leave Palmdale three hours prior to the concert start time to allow for traffic and finding the venue and then parking.
