You better check with the county first. Even though there may not be rent control for everyone every county in CA that I know of has very strict laws about rent in MHP's.

You'll need to transfer twice regardless. And realistically, you should count on it taking about two hours using transit. Even though you're only travelling 45 miles, there's quite a lot of waiting involved. This is definitely a full day trip. OPTION 1 N-Judah inbound to 4th Street and King station. Then Caltrain southbound to Mountain View station. Then VTA light rail to Great America (stops directly at the park). Fare is $1.50 MUNI + $6.00 Caltrain + $1.75 VTA = $9.25 one-way ----- OPTION 2 N-Judah to Embarcadero station. Then BART to Fremont station. Then VTA bus #140 to Great America (stops directly at the park). Fare is $1.50 MUNI + $5.25 BART + $1.75 VTA = $8.50 one-way

Greyhound will cost you about $55 each way, and it's an 11 hour trip Amtrak will cost you $61 each way, and it's 9-1/2 hour trip -- including 3-1/2 hours by bus (unless you take the Coast Starlighter, which is train all the way, but it's one departure a day, and it's an about a 12 hour trip) Amtrak and Greyhound will get you to Union Station in downtown L.A., and from there you'd take LA Metro busses to Paramount. Or you can fly. If you can book 3 weeks in advance, JetBlue is only $64(including tax, fees, etc) each way from Oakland to Long Beach, (which is the closest airport to Paramount), and then a bus to Paramount. Travel time- 1 hour, plust the bus to Paramount. For an extra three dollars versus eliminating 8-10 hours of travel time, I know which one I'd choose :D Finally, one more option. You mentioned "us". With two people, and definitely 3-4 people, the cheapest option would be to get a rental car and drive. If you shop around and look for coupons, you can usually get an economy car with unlimited miles for $30-40/day. And at 30mpg, your total gas would be about $110 -- plus, you're not stuck trying to get around L.A. by bus

I just wanted to warn you that a dog that costs less than $130 will probably come not only with health problems, but with other problems to that could cost you possibly thousands of dollars. Be careful.
